Judy Drown graduated from the University of Idaho in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Dance. She then attended and graduated from the Idaho School of Massage Therapy in Boise, Idaho in 2016. Shortly after, she obtained her license in massage therapy in Idaho and entered private practice. In 2018, she achieved her BASI Pilates Mat Instructor certification and continued through the BASI Pilates Comprehensive Instructor certification in 2020. She spent a year in Denver, Colorado, working at Pilates Denver as a Pilates Instructor and a Massage Therapist. In 2021, she returned to Moscow, Idaho, to focus on her massage therapy practice.
Judy has visited Copenhagen, Denmark, to compete in the World Championships in Massage in 2022 and 2024. She plans to compete in the American Massage Championships located in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2025. In addition to maintaining and growing her massage practice, she also teaches Pilates at the Integrated Pilates Movement Laboratory (IPML) located in Memorial Gym at the University of Idaho and at the Moscow Mountain Sport and Physical Therapy SPEED center.
Judy believes that massage therapy is a valuable resource to healthy living and graceful aging. Massage Therapy utilizes touch, manual tools and techniques, to address soft tissue dysfunctions. Therapeutic sessions revolve around the "Optimal Therapy Zone" where treatment "hurts so good but you can still relax into it." Massage should not induce or aggravate pain but help a person navigate the boundaries and limitations of their soft tissues for improved function.
When Judy is not working in her massage therapy practice, she enjoys playing with her dogs and spending time with her partner. Dancing, video gaming, crocheting, knitting, swimming, hiking, running, and receiving bodywork are her favorite activities outside of giving quality therapeutic bodywork.
